Summary
Dr. Mensah wasn't supposed to be here. She had stepped in at the last minute to help. SecUnit had insisted on joining.
Perihelion forwards an alarming message from PSUMNT. SecUnit can't be two places at once, but when the Genarrans demand Dr. Mensah choose a Champion, no one else from Preservation would stand a chance against the Genarran combatant whose identity raises more questions.
It only gets worse when a new Corporation is found to be involved, and the reasons for the PSUMNT alert come to light. One ship is already missing, and PSUMNT's reaction is unexpected.
Something much bigger is going on, and Perihelion's crew needs to figure out what it is before it's too late. For that, they are going to need allies.

Summary
As more and more constructs are freed and start to get away from their enslaving corporations, they are starting to hear rumors that the PanSystem University of Mihira and New Tideland might accept them and help them into their new lives.
Toward that end, PSUMNT has started offering a course sequence titled "Survival Tips for Recently Freed Constructs."
Murderbot isn't quite sure how it was roped into teaching Act Like a Human 101, but somehow it was.
And it definitely doesn't get paid enough for this.

Summary
The first planetary visit during our teaching run with ART had been mostly fine.
Mostly.
All the humans had stayed on the path. They had refrained from touching unknown flora. They had given the small fauna we had come across a wide berth. The humans had, overall, been the best behaved clients I have ever had on a planet. I was impressed.
The one, giant, problem was Three.

Everything had been normal, it had been fine. This was supposed to be a low risk mission. PSUMNT had been to this colony before. There wasn't supposed to be anything like this here.

Summary
I do not know why I let Ratthi convince me that this was a good idea. It was a terrible idea. What sort of person wants to sit themselves atop a skinny, two-wheeled, pedal-powered ground vehicle that doesn’t even have assisted stability control?
“Come on, SecUnit. It will be fun! It's an adventure. You should try something new once in awhile.”

Summary
Search and Rescue was a job typically left to the others, and I would help coordinate. Unfortunately, everyone else was already busy when the tip came in from Kaede, and I wasn't about to let Peri go through this alone. Even if it was "just" a drone iteration it shouldn't be alone and out of contact.
About a month ago, SecUnit had gotten separated from the group. No one was actually sure when it had disappeared. All we knew for sure was that it was definitely missing.

Summary
I had been visiting Preservation when a wildfire had broken out. It grew unusually fast, fueled by unusually dry weather, and a wind storm. All of my humans had gone to help how they could.
Overse and I were on an active evacuation team. It sounds more exciting than it is. We were in a small town going door to door and making sure people knew they were in an evacuation zone. Yes, not only was it not exciting, it also involved a lot of talking to people. So it was basically Hell.

Summary
This mission was shaping up to be almost as bad as HellPlague Planet. Okay, maybe it wasn't quite that bad, but it wasn't great. How about the first survey with PreservationAux. Know what? It doesn’t matter. It’s terrible. Everyone was injured.
"ART, I can't lay here. I'm just detaching it. It's crushed anyway."
I had sacrificed my left forearm, but it had kept Iris from being crushed when Three shot out the ceiling supports and nearly killed us.
Oh, that?
Yeah. Three has a Combat Override Module at the moment. I'm working on it, okay? Just give me a minute!

"Everything okay, Peri?" I asked as I pulled up diagnostics for the drives. They weren't coming up as quickly as usual.
"The drives are fine, Matteo. You may go back to sleep. Humans need rest periods."
Which was definitely one of the most suspicious things that Perihelion has ever said to me.

Summary
Three was driving me crazy. Absolutely, completely, utterly crazy.
In large part, because it read my contract and therefore knew exactly what my written stipulations were. Therefore, it could walk right on the line of those stipulations. Since it wasn't technically touching me, it wasn't technically violating my contract. That it considered 4mm of space at its closest point sufficient for "not touching" had apparently become a "me" problem somewhere along the line.

Summary
I hate planets.
Preservation is better than most. It has a fairly mild climate with fewer storms and less large, client eating fauna than most of the planets I have been assigned to. Though, I wasn’t assigned to Preservation, really. My humans lived there, and I was visiting. Technically, I was sort of a refugee and welcome to live here if I wanted, I guess.
Anyway, previously-not-terrible Preservation Planet was rapidly moving down my list. Yes, I have one. And words I didn't intend might have been leaking into the feed.

Summary
Things had been going pretty well. Bharadwaj was working on the documentary in an attempt to reduce the fear people have of SecUnits. (I didn't have a lot of faith that it would work, but I wanted to try.) Various parties in Preservation were starting to be more accepting of me.
And then... along came this whole situation with Balin, a Corporation Rim bot, killing the human because of Corporation Rim nonsense.
Maybe... just maybe Preservation would be better off chasing off anyone from the Corporation Rim. I am very much aware that includes me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Dr. Mensah noticed that I had concerns.

Summary
Ayda's surveys are always stressful for those left at home, but this one has been so much worse. Tano and Farai had thought Ayda was safe and on her way home once before. Then suddenly everything gets weirder, and a bunch of memory clips arrive with a note. It all seems to come back to that weird bot thing... Why is she so protective of it?

Summary
Yes, it's been an exceptionally long, hard several months. I'm still here though. Facing this all, even though I hate it.
And I do. I hate it.
I'm currently on what my now permanent contract with The Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland calls "extended family medical leave."
ART's not happy about it, but it understands that I need to be here right now. So, here I am. On Preservation, on indefinite "extended family medical leave," which seems to mean I am helping take care of someone until they die.
It's Dr. Mensah.
No. I'm not okay. I wish everyone would stop asking.
