Graham dies beneath the ice of Svalbard, in the hand of some tall, black thing whose claws rip through his skin like its paper. He dies with explosives crackling to life and heat in his palm, a claw trying to pry open his ribs like his body was nothing more than a can of fish, and the boom of stone doors slamming behind him. Graham dies to the spark-flash-boom of fire and the wailing shriek of those that took him, a claw piercing his lungs.
Graham Casner dies beneath the ice of Svalbard.
He wakes up again above it, almost 4,000 kilometers away in Nova Scotia, Canada, five months in the past.

Summary
I was well aware that ART and I had different preferences when it came to media. ART liked shows about ships; if such a thing as a show about SecUnits existed, I was 93% sure I wanted nothing to do with it. ART got scared and stopped watching when it thought humans might get seriously hurt; I was far from opposed to a nice unrealistic comfort drama, but also sometimes watched disaster documentaries to relax. I skimmed and skipped around; ART watched everything, all the way through, in order, usually several times.
But most importantly right now, I always sped up and muted boring scenes of humans having sex, and ART absolutely did not.

Finally, words have been put to my persistent fear and I can no longer deny what I have been thinking for the last several days. "Yeah. Erid's fascist."
Rocky and Grace return to Erid to find the planet struggling under the climatic impacts of astrophage. Rocky goes down to Erid alone with the singular goal of creating food for Grace, who is dying of malnutrition. However, Rocky finds that Erid isn't the same as he left it; the new government is reconfiguring life around an ethos that is focused on strengthening Erid, limiting knowledge-creation, and being hostile to outsiders--like Grace. Now Rocky must find a way to not only save Grace from starvation on his own, but do so before the fascist hive mind can realize what's going on, as its eye slowly trains on eradicating the alien lifeform.
