“It’s an invitation to go to a university and talk to some bots, what’s to make of it?” I said. Then the obvious reason behind Bharadwaj asking occurred to me. Oh, great. “Don’t tell me you’re actually thinking about going?”
“I’m considering it,” Bharadwaj said. “I set my own schedule these days, and I would very much like to speak with the bots they’ve been working with, if nothing else.”
I sighed. I like sighing at appropriate moments, and I think I’m pretty good at it at this point. “There are bots on Preservation.”
“True, but the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland has one of the most advanced programs in this section of the galaxy for the construction and study of higher-level bots!” Bharadwaj said, making one of those hand gestures she liked for emphasis.

AU after Fugitive Telemetry. Bharadwaj, Mensah, and Gurathin take a trip to do some research and rapidly uncover more than they'd bargained for. Why did Murderbot tag along on this low-risk research trip? Listen, don't worry about it.

“I just barely got your humans trained. Now I’m going to have to start all over again...”
The Perihelion has been conscripted to provide transportation for a Pan-System University of Mihara and New Tideland Xenoarchaeology Department exoarchaeology survey of a long-abandoned space station, and Murderbot is tagging along for the ride. Though it just really wants to be left to watch its media in peace, it may not have any choice but to try and answer questions like 'What happened to the original colonists who disappeared without a trace?' and 'What really happened two the two PSUMNT researchers who were lost on the last expedition?'
Also... alien ghosts aren't real... are they?

Summary
One of Mensah's children wants to read aloud to SecUnit from a chapter book. What's the worst that could happen? (It gets so spooked by a stupid old piece of children's media hitting too close to home that it has to run off and have an emotional collapse about it, that's the worst that could happen.)

Summary
I come back from the dead.
Something happened. Something happened just now— I came back from the dead, yes, I know, I'm not talking about this, something before that— beyond, even, there was a recognition, a realization, somehow much more important than the hostiles I am currently grinding to dust on my deck, more important, even, than SecUnit's humans with their raised hands and SecUnit with its raised voice and myself, raised from my grave. What was it?
"What's going on?" I ask futilely, my voice distorting through the speakers. SecUnit's humans jump, startled. "What the fuck is going on—"
