Summary
Eddie, after being a rumored murderer, isn't trusted by parents anymore. They do trust Steve however and in order for Hellfire to continue, Steve must be present.
Problem? Steve and Eddie hate one another. There's nothing in the world that could make them to get along. Except maybe, Eddie getting paid to befriend Steve by Lucas, Dustin and Mike.Or,

“What’s with the food?”
“It’s what you’re meant to do. Bring people casseroles.
“Yeah, when someone has died, Steve,” Eddie says, hand still resting on the doorframe like he is trying to shield the inside of the trailer from intruders. “It’s funeral food.”
It's the summer after Vecna, Eddie is busy licking his own wounds and Steve Harrington keeps dropping off food at his trailer. Steve Harrington who is another alpha.
Or: 5 times Steve cooked food for Eddie + the 1 time Eddie returned the favor.

Featuring Eddie chasing his musician dreams all the way to the west coast, and the lone omega he picks up along the way. Both of them are running - Eddie towards something, Steve away from it.
In his beat-up old van and cheap motel rooms, against a backdrop of sun-drenched highways and roadside diners, Eddie falls head-over-heels in love with the troubled omega in his passenger seat.
