Vergil knew the agony came from something deeper, something bound to the strange fracture between his human and demonic halves. Storms seemed to reach inside him and twist. Every roll of thunder tightened the pressure behind his eyes until it felt like his skull might crack apart.
Over the years, he had learned to endure it. He would retreat somewhere dark and silent, speak to no one, wait for the storm to pass.
Dante had figured it out earlier than Vergil expected.
