Unrelated to the fictional detective, he just had the misfortune of having parents who really liked the books. Living with his flatmate John, and his brother Mycroft (a name he might have intentionally chosen while transitioning just to annoy Sherlock), he slowly finds himself being dragged deeper and deeper into the narrative. John is dating someone with the surname Watson, individuals with names like Irene Adler and Inspector Lestrade are showing up, and perhaps most damningly of all, a string of murders continues to happen. Can he avoid the plot? Can he solve the murder? He certainly hopes not.
