Madoka wakes up alone in a clearing. Her shirt is absolutely covered in blood, stained a thick red like she’d gone swimming in a sickly smelling pot of strawberry jam, spilling from her stomach and slipping around her sides, onto her face, her legs, the ground surrounding her. Her shirt even has a hole blown through it.
But underneath it all her skin is perfectly smooth and uninjured. Bruises she had for days while scavenging on her own were nowhere to be seen. A nasty cut on her back that she’d somehow managed to clean was smoothed over like putty. She wasn’t clean, but she was safe.
Which was crazy! Because the last thing she’d remembered was being chased down into the ruins by a bunch of the little mustache monsters- and after being shot by a bandit to boot! People weren’t just okay after being shot!
But she was. Okay. Or crazy, that was a possibility too. She’d read about people surviving by themselves in desperate situations, it made them snap- humans were social animals after all, and stress only made things worse. She certainly remembered plenty of stress- but weirdly, she hadn’t ever felt alone.She didn’t even feel alone now.

No one ever really talked about what the world would be like after the apocalypse. Like, it happened and they survived and now what? TV shows and books always made it seem like it would be this horrible wasteland, that humans would return to primal instincts, baser desires. They made it seem like human beings would be worse than the monsters that they were fighting.
Maybe it was elsewhere, Izuku supposed. Maybe things were bad in other parts of the world with everything being dramatic and life or death. But his Apocalypse, all things considered, had been pretty gentle.
The Apocalypse happened and a group of strangers became a family.
And Midoriya Izuku reflected on what it's like for the world to be kind, in the end.

To many, it’s a relief to see those first dregs of light, a sign that you survived the night. It’s quiet and peaceful and gives you a sense of hope.
In the meadows, the creatures haven’t quite stirred. They lie beneath the grass, still asleep and hidden from the night before. The light of dawn lulls you into a false sense of security as you trample through the fields. Past the dangers of night, you forget the dangers of the day. After a night of sleep, the creatures are hungry. As the sun begins to rise, it blinds you to what’s really out there. Better watch where you step.
Estrella and the others rescued their friends. They escaped with their lives and almost seem to have forgotten the real issue they’re facing. As they celebrate and regroup, their enemy is waking. Powerful forces are stirring, and the demigods are blind to what’s happening just inches away from them. Will they rise to the occasion or will they fall to the evil that hides?
